Kebnekaise 1994

This was my first trip to the Kebnekaise area. The trip took place in early September, which was perfect. The leaves had started to get yellow, but the temperature was still quite warm. And we were really lucky about the weather, as You can see from the pictures.

With me on the trip were Patrick, his sister Sussi and her boyfriend Tomas and two of their friends Jerry and Helen.

Here we had just started from Nikkaluokta, where we left the car. Look at the colors!!! Quite nice. And it is easy walking almost all the way to the Kebnekaise Mountainhouse.

So many people walk here its alomost like Autobahn. Look at the wear on the ground.

Walking on a foot-bridge alittle bit further on the way. As I said, easy walking, almost to easy for me.... On the far right You can see Tolpagorni with its characteristic cutoff top.
This is from the second day. Our attempt was to climb to the top, going on the west route. The weather was still really nice, sunny and warm.

In front of Singichohkka and Tolpagorni.

Singipakte in the background at right. (Pakte means steep mountainwall)

Going upwards along "Kittelbäcken" (basincreek). From this point it started to get steeper and the climbing to get heavier.
Looking out west from the terrace between Tolpagorni and Vierranvarri. Quite a grand view. The lake is Singijavrrit.
On the top of Vierranvarri. Here people have built mound of stones, and so did we. From this point You have to go down again to get to Kebnekaise, and this is where we turned back due to heelsores and lack of time. We realized that we would not make it this day.
At our campsite. Last night before going home. Everyone were quite beat and vent to bed, except for Patrick and I that stayed up for a few more hours at the fire.
